From the Mouths of Babes...

As I sit here, listening to my sweet husband read to our two little boys, it reminds me of when I was young and my mom read to me. One of my favorite things to do on a Saturday was go to the library. I'd run over to the Dr. Seuss section and pull out 'If I Ran the Circus.' As I got older, my tastes changed, but there are still 2 Children's books that immediately push me back to childhood, sitting with my Mommy on my bed reading: Helga the Troll, by Tomi de Paola and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. I LOVED THESE BOOKS! I wanted Helga to get a dowry so she could marry Lars (although I always thought he was a jerk). And, I always wanted to live in the town of chew and swallow and go sledding down a hill of mashed potatoes.

So, what are your favorite children's stories? Which ones take you back and mean the most to you?

Can't wait to hear from you,

  2. I have three favorite books, two of them in spanish though. One of them in spanish is El Enano Saltarin. It is the same as Rumpelstilsken, but I always had it read to me in spanish. The other is La Oruga Muy Hambrienta by Eric Carle which is The Very Hungry Catipillar . Both of these short stories were well known, but I remember being red to them in spanish by my abuelita. The one is english is Where the Wild Things Are. My dad would always read this to me, and when the movie came out, we could not wait to watch it.

  3. When I was little the story I was told the most was the little boy who cried wolf. When I was little I used to lie a ton. So, my parents would always remind me of that story. Eventually, I stopped l=ying all the time because I was scared of what would happen like in the story.

  4. My book is The Lorax. My aunt would always read that book to me whenever I went over to her house or anytime I was around her. It was her favorite book and became my favorite the first time she read it to me. You know how adults make up voices to go with each character? My aunt did that with the Lorax and it was fascinating to me. I actually recently found my copy of the Lorax and read it. I realized its still fascinatin to me and I can vividly remember sitting with my aunt reading it.

  5. My most favorite books from when i was little was "Where the Wild things are", and Dr. Suess "Green eggs and ham". Every time i read these books it seems to take me back to a time of no stress no obligations and just no worries and fun. Every once and a while we should revisit those times so that we dont ever lose ourselves in all of the commotion and hard work of our bust lives.
