Writing Prompt

Sorry I didn't post yesterday, but here is what you were waiting for: I was mulling through a few writing prompts, and this one popped in my head: "You receive a package in the mail from your grandmother who died 30 years before." When I am working with the students in my class, the first thing I always do, is force them to focus on the entire question/statement. First off- they need to consider what was happening historically, culturally and socially 30 years before. They need to consider what type of relationship (if any) the person could have had with their grandmother. Was she the maternal or paternal grandmother? Was she the type of person who would have sent something sentimental, practical, or life changing? When writing, you need to explore EVERY facet. :) Have a great day!

If You Want to Find a Darcy...

I saw this really cool meme the other day: "If you want to marry a Darcy, don't act like Lydia or you'll only attract Wickhams!" Isn't that the truth? That's in all aspects of life, and not just relationships, too. We need to put ourselves out there the way we want to be treated- in the work place, in our friendships, in dealing with the people at the grocery store. how many times have others reflected back on us because of our own surly attitude? Don't allow yourself to be surrounded by Wickhams. Have class, show respect, be the person you want to be remembered as. Otherwise, forget Pemberley. Your only vacation spot will be Brighton. :)

Where Have I Been?!?!?

Hello, everyone. It has been quite a long time, and I sure have missed you. I'm excited to say that between the time I last posted and today, we've added a new little one to our family. Our Christopher has added lots of joy to our world, but it's different being the mother of 3 than the mother of 2. :) I have been fortunate enough, however, to FINALLY have my book ready for publication. Next week, July 16th, my novel, The Quest for Camelot, will be available on Kindle. :) Thank you for all your support and love! I'll keep you posted! ~Anngela

It's Been Toooooo Long! :)

What a vacation I took! It's been much too long since I've written on my blog. BUT, that' shows I've been busy with my book, which I'm excited to say is completed! :) 71,000 words, over 250 pages, and I feel like my baby is graduating! :) I'm waiting to get the final 2 chapters back from the editor, and then it will be ready to send off in its entirety! :) Think happy thoughts, and then I'll just need Faith, Trust and Pixie Dust!

From the Mouths of Babes...

As I sit here, listening to my sweet husband read to our two little boys, it reminds me of when I was young and my mom read to me. One of my favorite things to do on a Saturday was go to the library. I'd run over to the Dr. Seuss section and pull out 'If I Ran the Circus.' As I got older, my tastes changed, but there are still 2 Children's books that immediately push me back to childhood, sitting with my Mommy on my bed reading: Helga the Troll, by Tomi de Paola and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. I LOVED THESE BOOKS! I wanted Helga to get a dowry so she could marry Lars (although I always thought he was a jerk). And, I always wanted to live in the town of chew and swallow and go sledding down a hill of mashed potatoes.

So, what are your favorite children's stories? Which ones take you back and mean the most to you?

Can't wait to hear from you,

I Have a Dream....

If you've ever seen the movie Pretty Woman with Julia Roberts and Richard Gere, you might remember the homeless guy at the beginning and end of the movie that says something like, "Welcome to Hollywood. What's your dream? EVERYbody's got a dream!" I was thinking about him today, because man I've been having strange dreams lately. They say that dreams are a reflection of our innermost desires. If that's the case, I really want to be grading Senior Projects soon, because that's what I've been dreaming about! Can't wait.

However, before I get those turned into me this Friday, I can still dream of something wonderful that will happen to me or my loved ones. Tell me what are your dreams? What do you want to accomplish? What to do you hope to achieve? Either that, or tell me about a real dream you've had.

Can't wait to hear from you,
~Anngela :)
